I am a PhD by training, but a patient advocate by birthright. I use both my professional and personal experience to develop and establish best practices, services and products through patient-centered models. I engage collaboratively with multiple stakeholder groups, including clinicians, researchers, administrators, industry professionals, designers, patient advocacy organizations and other patient networks in order to improve the lives of the patients they serve by focusing on the areas that matter most to the patient. I speak on the topic to help professionals understand the value and methods toward effective engagement. Additionally, I speak directly to patient groups to empower them by showing why their experiences are so valuable and providing them with the relevant tools and resources to prepare them for active participation.
My true joy is in connecting patients with researchers, product designers, journalists and anyone whose company or project could benefit from understanding the experiences of the patients they wish to serve. This practice is mutually beneficial as the professional projects improve their research, products or services and the patient ends up with results or products more relevant and meaningful to them. Everybody wins!
